Analyse Bus Open Data (ABOD) Webinar Series

Analyse Bus Open Data (ABOD) is an extension service to the Bus Open Data Service (BODS), that provides free-to-access reporting and analytics to operators and authorities nationally. Analyse Bus Open Data is part of the Department for Transport’s ongoing investment in bus services, and supports the National Bus Strategy, by helping government, local authorities, and bus operators to: perform existing bus data analysis in faster and easier ways; produce more accurate and detailed performance analysis reports; improve on collaboration between different organisations; identify network improvement opportunities; inform transport policy and compliance monitoring across the industry.

Bus Back Better Webinar Series

In January 2022, England’s Economic Heartland, Transport East and Transport for the South East were awarded funding to support local transport authorities with the delivery of their Bus Service Improvement Plans (BSIPs) and Enhanced Partnerships (EPs). This funding supported all local transport authorities by providing support needed to deliver on commitments in the Government’s Bus Back Better strategy and to develop an effective intra-regional bus network.

Following a process of engagement with the local authorities from across three STB areas, eleven packages of support have been developed, which can be accessed using the following link.

PTRC Course The Equality Act for Placemakers and Transport Practitioners - Online (fee payable)

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the application of the Equalities Act to transportation, highways and urban realm activities and is essentialtraining for any consultant working for public sector clients.

This course is designed for transportation professionals in the public and private sector who are primarily involved in the development and implementation of policies, strategies and projects that affect the public realm. Suitable for both new entrants to the industry and long-standing professionals, the course should also be considered by people involved in transport development management, urban design, traffic management, traffic signal design, highway maintenance and parking. Consultants working for public sector clients will find this course particularly helpfulf or understanding the duties and responsibilities placed on them by this legislation.

Bus Service Commissioning and Operations (BSCO) Practitioners Certificate

What will the qualification cover?

The BSCO qualification is currently in development and will be a modular programme that will be delivered by PTRC and accredited by the CILT(UK). The Bus Service Commissioning and Operations (BSCO) qualification programme has been designed to support both re-skilling and up-skilling in the bus sector and to provide professional recognition for bus service planners and operators.

Who is it For?

The CILT(UK) Bus Service Commissioning and Operations (BSCO) learning programme is designed for those working in local authorities with public transport responsibilities, bus operators and the wider profession to support the effective implementation of the strategy to get the better services that passengers need.

When will it Be Available?

The Bus Service Commissioning and Operations (BSCO) Practitioners Certificate is currently under development, with plans for the first intake to be in early 2024.

What Are the Expected BSCO Learning Outcomes?

Topics and themes covered in the learning programme are relevant to both local authorities and bus operators and deliver skills, knowledge and understanding leading to closer working relationships and successful partnerships.
